Whenever in need of technical advice when troubleshooting your system, feel free to call us toll-free at 1-866-LUXARCARE. We offer the most competent, free-of-charge technical support available, and are always glad to help.
1. Calibrate the flexible fiber waveguide. Calibration ensures accurate power delivery to the tissue and provides you with confidence that the power displayed on the control panel is what is actually being delivered at the target site. Please consult your user's manual for detailed calibration instructions or call us for free over-the-phone support.
2. Check the fiber transmission coefficient. A high quality fiber can extend the lifetime of your Luxar laser. Provided here are instructions for displaying your fiber transmission coefficient and determining the quality of the fiber. First, calibrate the fiber (see above) and wait until the control panel display stops blinking. Then, follow these simple steps below: 1 - Press and release the STANDBY button. Luxarcare recommends a fiber transmission coefficient of 60% or more. For questions or assistance, or to purchase a new fiber, please call us.
3. Determine the laser tip transmission coefficient. Sure, it's tempting to reuse tips; however, even if a used and autoclaved tip looks fine on the outside, it might be optically degraded on the inside. Conversely, a laser tip charred on the outside might be optically highly efficient. Here's how to determine the laser tip transmission coefficient: 1 - Calibrate the fiber using the laser tip you'd like to test. Luxarcare recommends a laser tip transmission coefficient of 0.9 (90%) or more. For questions or assistance, or to purchase new tips, please call us.
4. Evaluate internal CW and SP laser tube power. Knowing internal laser tube power allows you to better maintain your Luxar laser in top shape for many years. Provided here are instructions for measuring laser tube power in regular (CW) and superpulse (SP) modes. This only works on newer Luxar LX-20LP, LX-20SI and LX-20SP lasers, as well as the Luxarcare™ LXC-20SP. For assistance with laser tube power evaluation for older LX-15, LX-20 and LX-20i lasers, please call Luxarcare. 1 - Press and release the STANDBY button. Luxarcare recommends SP power of at least 13 watts and CW power of at least 25 watts. Lower values than these may indicate the need for service. For further questions or assistance, please call us. |
