I have been using a CO2 laser since 1999 in my small animal and exotic practice. I wouldn't practice without it now. It's extremely versatile and I use it every day. Just today I amputated a cockatiel wing (with minimal hemorrhage), corrected bilateral entropion in a cat, and then a neoplastic globe enucleation in a ferret. I'm sure you've read about the litany of uses. I also have a diode laser but the carbon dioxide laser is the way to go if you have to pick the most versatile modality. ... The flexible hollow fiber waveguide is superior to articular delivery systems. Consumables to consider include assorted tip diameters, smoke evacuation filters, and replacement wave guide about every two years. My ... recommendations for laser manufacturers: ... Aesculight - Reliable and versatile also. Newer design and more powerful "state of the art" features. Actually this laser was developed and is sold by the two engineers who designed the Luxar/Accuvet laser. ... I have been extremely happy with my ("Luxar") lasers but if I were in the market for a new one I'd have to go with the Aesculight. If you haven't been introduced, it's definitely worth a "look-see."
